Pedro Glover... RIP

I feel like a horrible person to myself for not blogging/dating/remembering this sooner.

Pedro recently passed away. Middle of Jan. And I just know when Dylan sent me the text message to tell me, my heart dropped and tears flooded my eyes and face. I blubbered like a mess and text my friend Kelsey about it. I was alone, sitting in my car, buried in snow. I felt safe to cry and bear my soul for this little dog that touched me so.
I remember the first time I met him and Lola. They were barking up a storm and eventually calmed down. Lola drove me nuts, but I stuck to Pedro like glue. I even remember lugging them all the way up to Bellingham with me, because I hated to be apart. I spoiled him more than Lola, and I loved when he would lay down next to me at night. I loved him like he was mine. Pedro passed away old, and lived a long and wonderful life. But I know I will never forget him as long as I live and as short as he was in my life.
I took TONS of pictures of him. I mean TONS. More than I've ever taken of any of my pets. And the ones I'm sharing now are my favorites.
If any of of you have had a pet that has touched you, you know how hard it is to let them go.
RIP Pedro. I love you.

Checkerboard Mania

A while back when I went christmas shopping with my friend Alyssa, I saw this really cool cake pan set. You make the inside of a cake mimic a checkerboard. I was so stoked, but didnt have the funds to buy it at the time.

Fast forward to 2 months later and tax return in my hand, and off to Walmart I went. Picked it up and the excitement set in. I love baking.

Attempt #1 happened with my friend Sheilena at my house at night, while we were sipping our adult drinks. Well, lets just say you shouldn't drink and bake. Literally.

I ended up doing the three layers wrong... And it messed up the checkerboard effect. However, as messy and crazy as this cake looks, it was DELISH. I have witnesses.

So off to walmart again to pick up another round of  baking supplies.

The mold.

So I baked the 3 layers, froze them over night. Then i brought them out a day later and carved them down to be flat layers. Afterwards I put it back in the freezer to harden up a little. 30 min later I find THIS

In my freezer.. SO sad. It was supposed to be 3 layers, and mine ended up to being 2.

The checkerboard effect is kind of there, but it definetly needed its third layer.

However, this was a fun experience.
